Strevens 49
| Football League 2 Victoria Road Tuesday 1st January 2008 | | 1) Tony Roberts:- Hardly had a save to make yet had to pick the ball out of his net twice. No chance with either goal, almost caught out by a lob in the first half but recovered well to save 6
2) Magnus Okuonghae:- Kept his place after the clean sheet at Bury yet looked shaky from the start. Looks unconfortable in possession and frustratingly out-muscled for a big lad. Question marks about his positioning on the second goal. 5
3) Sam Sloma:- played wide left again but just dosent do enough to have a positive effect on the game. When in good positions he wasted the ball and seemed indecisive when through on goal. Defensively did ok but could possibly offer more protection. 5
6) Shane Huke:- Battled hard in the centre of the park and is a threat at set plays. Goal-scoring return could be better, needs to convert more often as he seems to get a decent chance a game. Dosent lack effort. 6
7) Sam Saunder:- Quieter game than at Bury, delivery from set-plays was very usefull. Like Sloma on the opposite flank, must be more positive around the opposition box. Worked hard. 6
8) Glen Southam:- Works hard alongside Huke and tries his best to get things going. Sometimes with Glen his disappointment shows to readily and the shoulders drop. We need him to keep driving the boys on the way he has the first part of the season. 6
9) Jon Nurse:- Always feeding off scraps. Does a lot of his best work out wide when we really need him in the box looking for goals. Sometimes, his delivery into the box lacks thought, having done the hard yards to create opportunities. 6
12) Scott Griffiths:- Clearly not fit but doing what he can for the cause which is admirable. Tough tackling hasnt changed, we need him back to full health. Possibly caught ball watching for Brentfords second goal. 6
15) Anwar Uddin:- Another improved performance from Annie, so much more comfortable at Centre half. Sometimes as the skipper and as a centre half, needs to get hold of those around him so we are tighter as a unit. Cant fault his effort. 7
18) Ben Strevens:- Did well considering he was isolated at times. Does well to keep opposing defenders honest as he seems to nick possession high up the pitch. Another goal too. 7
19) Danny Foster:- Good to have him back, him and Scott give more confidence. Must be told to defend narrow as Poole was afforded far to much space for the first goal. 6
subs
Jon Boardman:- only got 10 mins for Magnus n/a Dominic Green:- Hardly got the ball to him, difficult to influence the game. 5
