| Daggers somehow managed to squander the chance of 3 vital points on a chilly Tuesday night away at Peterborough. There was still no place in the starting XI for club captain Anwar Uddin and Dave Rainford was left out with Huke returning. Chris Moore started up top in a system that resembled 4-4-2 but in essence was 4-5-1 with Moore dropping off.Dagenham started the game reasonable well, keeping 'Boro reasonably high up the pitch whilst keeping a very tight reign on the diminutive Craig Mackail-Smith. It was the away side who forced the early chances, Moore heading wide from a rare moment of inspiration from Graham and Sam Sloma screwing wide on ten minutes. Moore then missed an even better chance, Tyler the 'boro keeper saving with his legs when put through by Huke. Peterborough started to find their feet now, former Billericay starlet Chris Whelpdale had a drive from the edge of the box saved by Roberts then CMS saw a header came back off a post with Roberts well beaten. Straight from the clearance, Benson found himself in on the Peterborough goal and he finished with aplomb, lifting the ball over Tyler. Dagenham protected their lead well in the remaining 15 minutes off the half, restricting Peterborough to a couple of snapshots from Day.
This was the end of the fun for the Daggers. Having looked bright and confident, they found themselves slipping into bad habits after the break. Micah Hyde was introduced for Posh, Taiwo came on for the Daggers in an attempt to shore up a now pourous looking midfield. Boro kept pouring through the gaps and although a goal seemed inevitable, with just a quarter of the game left, it looked like the daggers may just hold on. However in the space of 12 poor minutes, we capitulated to the onslaught and lost the game. Keates Equalised for Posh, seemingly with the freedom of our penalty to steer home. Mclean then missed a simple header to put them in front, but he made amends on 79 minutes, forcing home a CMS cross. Dagenham should have been lever almost immediately, sub Strevens heading weakly over as Tyler struggled to make up the ground. We were made to pay, Mclean and CMS again combining for the former to grab his second of the night. It could have been more, CMS and Keates missing the target near the full time whistle.
A disappointing end to the contest against a side that will be involved in the final shake-up. Some positives in an attacking sense although the late substitutions unbalanced the side and ultimately cost us at least a point. Bradford is vitally important now.
