| Dagenham and Redbridge 3
Benson 33 Strevens 85 Benson 90 | FA Cup Victoria Road Saturday 1st December 2007 | Kidderminster Harriers
1 Creighton 14 | Dagenham entertained Kidderminster in an important FA Cup Second Round game. Still with injuries, this was always going to be a hard game and that is exactly how it was.
With plenty of injuries and Solomon still suspended Sloma carried on in the centre of midfield, as the same team was fielded as the previous week in the draw against Macclesfield.
Dagenham did it the hard way by letting in an early goal from yet another set piece. This time it was Boardman's mistake as he lost Mark Creighton who managed to put a fine header past the Daggers keeper. Kidderminster looked to take advantage and tried to grab aother goal with Dagenham struggling to get into the game. This time Ex woking star Richards had a shot that went wide.
When Dagenham finally got going they managed to grab an equaliser Paul Benson with a sublime turn and shot that flew into the top corner past Kiddy's keeper Scott Bevan. This gave Dagenham a much lifted boost going into the Second half
Into the second half Dagenham looked very much the brighter team with Southam having an early opportunity. After Moore was substituted for Nurse it gave us a lot more going forward and his pace caused all sorts of problems. Nurse introduced himself by helping to set up Strevens for an opportunity, but unfortunately Bevan managed to scramble himself across goal and stop it on the goal line.
However with the Daggers looking to attack and get the second goal this left a lot of opportunities at the back. First came Richards with an opportunity, which was well saved, and then Boardman's mistake led to Christie with a fabulous opportunity one on one but once again Roberts stood up firm to make a fantastic game. Just before the Daggers took the lead Kidderminster might feel aggrieved as a handball was given against Dagenham which they thought was inside the box, however with the referee standing firm a free kick was given which flew past the post.
But with Five minutes left a great pass sent Nurse down the left and his cross left Strevens at the back post to slide the ball under Bevan. The Daggers went mad whilst Kidderminster looked on. With Kidderminster trying to get back in the game they left plenty of opportunities at the back this time it was Benson who beat a player before placing the ball in the far corner to giver Daggers a two goal advantage, and see them into the next round where they will either face Oxford or Southend.
In truth this could have gone either way on the day but the Daggers superior finishing helped to see off the conference side and see them into the next round. | | Dagenham vs Kidderminster: Match Report | Match Day Report | Player Ratings | Match Photos |
