| Essex Senior Cup Tuesday 20th Novemeber 2007 | | Daggers quest for silverware continued on Tuesday evening as they eventually saw off a spirited Brentwood side in the Essex Senior Cup.
Brentwood arrived with what would be considered to be a full strength side, Dagenhams selection policy remained consistent for this competition as mainly a reserve team squad played. The only additions to this being Magnus Okuonghae, Sam Sloma, Dominic Green, Jon Nurse and Jamie Taylor. Marlon Patterson, Dave Hogan and the returning Bai Mas Lettejallow playing at centre half added some familiarity.
In tough conditions, both sides try to play what football they could. It was Brentwood who really should have gone ahead in the tie. Twice the pacy Sean Thomas broke clear but Dave Hogan saved the first effort, the second was dragged well wide. Although the daggers had plenty of possession, Marc Palmer in the blues goal was rarely troubled until he had to pick the ball out of his net, Sam Sloma volleying home brilliantly from the edge of the area. Before half time, Palmer made an outstanding double block from Dominic Greens initial shot and Jon Nurse' follow up effort. Dave Hogan also had to make a smart stop before the half was up, palming over a dipping volley.
Dagenham came out with a little more purpose in the second half, obviously keen to put the tie to bed. Sam Sloma, who dosent score soft goals found the top again ten minutes into the half, dummying the ball away from the Brentwood number 8 before giving Palmer no chance. The tie was no over, despite the persistent efforts of Thomas up front for Brentwood. Kraig Rochester finished the scoring late on, calmly stroking home from 8 yards. Both Jacob Erskine and Magnus could have added to the scoring with headers but that would have been harsh on Brentwood.
