| Football League 2 Victoria Road Saturday 22nd March 2008 | Shrewsbury Town 1 Cooke 34
| The Daggers had to settle for a hard earned point this afternoon at a bitterly cold Victoria Road against faltering Shrewsbury Town.
Dagenham made one change to the side that were thumped at Mk Dons, Huke coming in for the injured Foster, hopefully helping to put right the wrongs of the previous week. They started the game with a fierce wind at their backs, but if truth be told, hardly utilised this in the opening period, having very few efforts on goal. Glen Southam having the first of note, shooting straight at Garner, the former Orient man in the Shrews goal. There was little quality on show from either side, both woefully out of form and struggling with the conditions in the atmosphere and underfoot. It was the Shrews who took the lead however just after the half hour mark. Shane Huke needlessly gave away a free-kick in our right channel near the corner flag. Dagenham, who still looked nervy, never looked like dealing with the set-piece and even though Roberts kept out Asa Halls header, it eventually fell to Cooke to stab home as several Daggers cast accusing looks at one another. Strevens did find the back of the net before half-time but he was offside. The side were booed off for their efforts.
John Still clearly delivered a rocket at the interval and the Shrews were never allowed to settle, even though there was still a lack of goal mouth action for the home crowd to cheer. Apart from a couple of teasing crosses from Nurse, Garner had yet to be troubled. In fact Shrews almost doubled the lead through Hall who shot wide with Roberts well beaten. It was from the resulting attack that Dagenham got a foothold in the game. Strevens cleverly nodded down into the path of Benson who took a touch before smashing home. The relief was evident all around the ground and it was a very welcome return for Benson.
Dagenham continued to press but in truth, never looked like testing Garner except for a few long range efforts from Gain and Southam. In fact, Shrewsbury almost nicked it at the death, Hibbert heading over when well placed. A very hard fought point for the home side.
