| Dagenham & Redbridge 1
| Football League 2 Victoria Road Sunday 14th October 2007 | | Forget your bottles of milk, Accrington Stanley certainly showed us "Exxxactly" who they were on Sunday. Dagenham fielded a slightly adjusted side from the 11 that played in the 80 minute cup win at Orient on Tuesday night, Back in the starting 11 were captain Uddin, along with Foster and Moore. At the start of the game neither side were really setting the world alight, however a moment of Brazilian style football brought about the first goal of the game, and it wasn't for Dagenham. A great left-footed pass from the halfway line found Cavanagh on the right, who volleyed first time into the box for an unmarked McGivern to glance home the opener, a great goal, even if it wasn't for the home team!! However, it wasn't long before Dagenham got a bit more of a hold on the game, Moore bursting through via the hand of the defender (3 blind mice officiating) but the keeper saved well with Moore bearing down on him. Dagenham did manage an equaliser though on 26 minutes, Danny Foster found himself in an unusual position in front of goal thanks to a great pass from Southam (sponsored by Upminster Daggers), although being a defender managed to pull his shot wide. But, not wanting to see the ball go past without having a touch, Cavanagh decided to smash to ball into the roof of his own net, great finish by the way!! But, Cavanagh, obviously wanting to get his monies worth out of the day, again became provider for the second Accrington goal a minute later. A sweet cross landed straight on the head of Proctor who dutifully tucked away back past Roberts in the Daggers goal. The rest of the half peetered out into pretty much nothing, only thing we changed was formation, bringing on "Stan" Boardman for Sloma to change the formation to 3-5-2 (or possibly 5-3-2, depends who could shout the loudest). In the second half Dagenham seemed to start the better, having a lot of possesion but never really troubling the Accrington goal, more the accrington fans. On the hour, Still swapped Benson for Moore and brought on Graham for his first league appearance. Both looked to inject a bit of pace into the game, but some unusual tactics of Long-Balls didn't really help the new boys who naturally play well on the floor. At the same time Accrington introduced InSane and he immediately made his mark, getting beyond the daggers defence and a cross-come-shot was expertly tip onto the bar by Roberts, only to fall straight onto the head of Mullin who nodded home from all of one yard. InSane had a free header before the final whistle which seemed harder to miss, but he managed it. The final whistle came though and Daggers were beaten, Accrington deserved the points, but a good spell of possesion was not capitalised on by the Daggers. I don't think the Long Ball tactics work, lets get back to passing the ball like last year and score some goals. Gobless
