Report

Dagenham fought out a tough win on a very cold Tuesday night, at the Mecca of Football that is the "New" Recreation Ground.

Daggers started the liveliest and soon converted this into a goal, a long clearance from Roberts seemed to bamboozle both defender and the keeper, Bayes (The Wall as he's known locally, what a joke) made an hilarious effort at closing down the ball, leaving CMS to nip in between defender and keeper to lob the ball 18 yards and into the back of the net. With Daggers 1-0 up all were expecting a rowt, unfortunately Daggers seemed to step off the gas a little and allowed Grays back into the game. Some good play on the edge of the box from Grays new striker O'Connor left Boylan with several chances in the first half, most of these were expertly saved by Roberts (the actual "Wall" of the night) and two free headers for the travelling striker were also miles off target.

The second half was much less of a spectacle, Daggers applied good pressure and had several break away chances, none of these were converted, mainly thanks to poor control and one save from Bayes (although he didn't have to move), Grays applied a lot of pressure in the second half but no with real chances/final ball. The game ended with Daggers holding out for the final few minutes for the win. In summary, it wasn't pretty but we got the three points, which took us six points clear of second placed Oxford (the team on loan to the conference, for a few years yet).
