Benson 39 | Nationwide Conference Victoria Road Saturday 17th March 2007 | Forest Green Rovers
1 Brough 74 | Dagenham were again frustrated with a Home draw against a Forest Green side who followed up their win against Oxford with a draw against the league leaders. In what was a slow opening Dagenham struggled against a strong wind and took almost 25 minutes to really get going into the match, when they did though they bought about a period of pressure on the Green goal with a flurry of corners. The delivery in general was poor and often failed to clear the first man. After 39 minutes Dagenham took the lead with a goal of quality, the ball out on the left wing with Sam Sloma was skipped on to Strevens who whipped in a excellent ball to Benson at the far post who had lost his marker and with a clinical volley put the Daggers one up. In the 2nd half Dagenham encountered real problems with the wind and their passing was poor and overhit. On plenty of occasions the killer ball looked but when it had been played through it had infact been hit straight to the keeper or out of play, this didn't look like it would matter though as Green were still to muster a shot on target. In the 74th minute their first shot on target went in a cross from the left was bundled in by Brough and sent to 30 odd FGR fans potty. With the scores level Dagenham tried to up it a notch but the linking between midfield and the front two was again off. John Still had already bought on Lawson for Sloma and many were calling for Chris Moore to bolster the front two but it was not to be. Dagenhams lasts attempts of the game were through Strevens who had run tirelesly took on a 20 yard volley and Benson who cracked a shot from the edge of the box, the fact Dagenham were going for the spectacular showed how good a job Forest Green had done. Another welcome point however on the quest for top spot .
