PRE JOURNEY
Started the day with the recommended weekly calorie allowance for breakfast in the cafe!!!!! On to the pub for a couple at about midday.  Lost again to Dead Bloke at pool.  Not sure what he in on at the moment with his recent form.  Watched the first half of the Wigan v Man Yoo game and everyone apart from Dead Bloke was pleased with the half time score (we were all less pleased when we heard the final score!!!)

ATTENDEES
Not a bad turn out for an away game with 7 of us making the journey.  Myself, Dead Bloke, Stew, Dogva, Skippy, Browns and the now regular Winkle!!!  Excuses for non attendance were wide ranging as always.  Count was in Belfast so missing yet another game, Wayne was at QPR again and Jeff was apparently at a Socialist Party conference in London, although I suspect he was actually watching Liverpool v Blackburn!!!

JOURNEY THERE
We normally go to Stevenage by train but as we needed to be back quickly we went by car with Skippy and Dead Bloke at the wheels.  Journey took about an hour, with not much traffic about.  Managed to get parked in car park right opposite ground.

PRE MATCH
We had about an hour to kill before the game.  When you have time to kill this has to be one of the worst grounds in the country.  There are no pubs or anything anywhere near the ground.  Visited Burger King, as if we hadn't eaten enough at breakfast, and then actually got into the ground at about 2.30.

GROUND
One of the best in the league.  Seats on one side and behind goal, where we were housed, and covered terracing around rest of ground.  However, how they can charge £14 to watch Conference football I don't know.  If the likes of us and Gravesend only charge £11 and Altrincham £10 how they can charge £14??  They argue that you get a seat but we don't get any choice!!!  The grub is also very average (according to Winkle who followed up his BK with a burger and chips!!!).

CROWD
Was an excellent atmosphere created by both sets of supporters, almost like a cup tie.  Was Stevenage's 2nd highest crowd of season, over 2,300.  I would estimate that there were around 350 Daggers supporters (Stevenage fans may be able to confirm this??).  Noise from our end was pretty good throughout, and although I am not a fan of seats, the stand we get at Stevenage does help to create a good atmosphere.  Stevenage fans were pretty vocal to.  Although they have to be the biggest bunch of whingers in the league!!! Every year I have been there the ref gets booed off at half time!!! OK, on this occasion Mr Ward was awful, as he always is, but he had given just as much to them as he had us.

GAME
A real "smash and grab" effort on our behalf, but a really good battling performance.  Sam Sloma gave us the lead with an excellent strike but they then dominated possession.  Despite this they didn't create to many chances and we looked like going into half time in front until Morrison headed in an equaliser in injury time.
After the break they came out all guns blazing and we had hardly been out of our half until CMS struck the post and Sloma knocked in the rebound.  We then had to hold on for 30 minutes, although again, they had more possession and territory than they did chances.  Final whistle was met with wild celebrations by both fans and players.  The players knew what a big result this was and so did the supporters.

JOURNEY HOME
Took about an hour again with virtually no traffic.  Highlight of the journey was the Conference scores on the radio with most results going our way yet again.  Oxford's draw meant we were only two points behind them, but other results meant we were 10 points above 6th place (more important in my opinion as I think the play-offs are more realistic).

POST JOURNEY
For five of us it was a quick wash and change and then back down the pub for a quick one before going on to the Cricket Club Dinner and Dance.  None of us were really looking forward to it, but it turned out to be a good night, helped I think in our cases by the result in the afternoon!!!!
