| | Pre Match: Normal 12.30 meet in the Yeoman for home games. With no Premiership games we were expecting quite a a few people along today. With no Premiership game the SKY match on in the pub was Forest v Scunthorpe!!! Forest showing their excellent pedigree ran out 4-0 losers!!!! Dead Bloke couldn't continue his form on the red baize as the pool table was knackered!!!
Attendees: All the regulars as normal, and plenty of others. Gobless actually graced us with his presence for the second day in a row, Skippy was back from his mysterious absence, Bobby was around as he is not old enough to play in the Vets cup competition, Brian Peters was on loan from Chelsea for the day and Winkle made another appearance, this week knocking back to 1/4 pounders in the first half. Homer also made an appearance mid way through the first half.
Crowd: A decent crowd of over 1,200, swelled by the mass ranks of the Upminster Daggers. 1,200 doesn't sound like that good a crowd but this has something to do with Northwich bringing 26!!!! This number was confirmed after Homer ordered a re-count when someone inititally claimed there was only 25 of them!!!! I think had the game been against Aldersh*t or Wa*king or Stevenage then we would have seen a crowd of well over 1,500. The Northwich fans also made no noise at all, although I suppose with 26 of them we may not have been able to hear it!!! Decent atmosphere in the home section, despite a few of the regular noise makers being at Old Trafford for the England game.
Game: Another excellent performance from the boys. Northwich were never really in it and did well to hold out as long as they did!!! Even the presence of a female linesperson could not knock the lads out of their stride!!! Paul Benson was superb again but it was one of them days when everyone played well. Good to see the bench looking a littler stronger as well now. Shame we could not get the 6th at the end but mustn't grumble to much!!!
Post Match: Unfortunately I had to rush away to a family event after the game, and so my post match time was spent on a train with a disgruntled Orient fan (shame!?!?) and a ground hopper!!! It did however mean I managed to miss the first half of the England game!!! For the rest of the group it was back to the Yeoman for more beers and unfortunately the England game!!! Middle | | | | |
