| PRE MATCH Another mid-week game at the Vic so it was decided with people coming from all directions to meet in the upstairs bar at the Club. First arrivals were Middle and Stew. That is first in the whole bar, not just from us!!! Gradually people started to arrive, included delegates from the HLP. Gobless was to meet us in the ground, DB was amazingly early considering how immensely busy he is at this time of year, and Browns was also to meet us in the ground, as it later became clear because he had bought his girlfriend with him!!! Homer also arrived looking like..........well, not sure how to describe it really!!!
ATTENDEES A good turnout for a Tuesday night. The Big Four of course, the Big Man Winkle, Browns, Skippy, Gobless, Bobby (racking up a lot of games this season!!), Homer, Biggers, local celeb Wayne Mardle, Saviola (very late mind) and Browns, with girlfriend (what is that about!?!?). No real excuses. The non attendance of Beast means he has now fallen below 20% and has dropped off the leaderboard!!
CROWD Just under 2,000 which was a pretty good effort. No deals or kids for a quid, so makes it look even better. Also, 326 travelled from Hereford which on a Tuesday night is an impressive effort. Atmosphere was a little muted in first half, but was excellent in second. Travelling fans from Hereford were a little subdued as the game wore on.
GAME Another immense effort from the Daggers. Not pretty in fairness, but did what we do best. Once we go in front we had something to defend and hold on to, and it was back to the way we played last year which is what we are good at. Massive performances from Arber, Gain, Anwar and Strevs. Well deserved three points and we are certainly moving in the right direction.
POST MATCH Waited around for a few minutes to hear the good news on the other results effecting us. Then most jumped on the tube back to Upminster, although some had drifted off by then. Only 4, Middle, Saviola, Stew and Bobby made it for a curry, or so we thought until Biggers strolled in 20 minutes later!!! We had forgotten about him at Dagenham East and left him there trying to buy a ticket!!! A good feed was enjoyed by all and we were even joined by the Buffalo (very occasional Daggers attendee) to celebrate the three points.
