Essex Senior Cup

Monday 7th January 2008

Dagenham and Redbridge

1

Charlery 68

Pre-match:-
The Fans Focus Essex Senior Cup is the competition of the hardy (or stupid) fan, and the pre-match talk was of the ridiculous cost of £9 it was going be to gain entry to the running track. Middle and Stew bored a whole carriage of happy commuters from Stratford, Deaders was already in the Plough claiming not to have had food and Mad-dog breezed in just before 7. With the big 4 in attendence, it was a cab ride to Melbourne park.

Attendees:-
At this late stage of the season, you really can count on very few. The big 4 mentioned above were it for the UD's. Mind you, that is a big 4!! Chelmsford had a "by 3 get 1 free" offer on at the turnstyles so the spare tenner was spent on a selection of hamburgers and tea, a good investment in any language. Cheers to Kingy's brother.

Crowd:-
Chelmsford biggest game of the season attracted 531 officially which is a decent effort for a bitterly cold Monday evening in a pointless cup against a team of kids when being charged just shy of a tenner!! Fair play to them. Daggers had approximately 40 bored souls there. Games like this go to show just how sh*t the t.v in this country is!!

Match:-
It was always going to be a total mis-matchdue to the much reported illness sweeping the Dagenham training ground but the youngsters who played should be very proud of their efforts. They kept going and played some very attractive football against a decent side. With a bit of luck, some of these boys will continue to progress as there was plenty of promise on show.

Post Match:-
Freezing cold, sober, Monday night and work in the morning contributed to a very quiet post match. Middle caught a tractor back out into the sticks, the others caught the train back to civilisation, complete with food stop.
