| Pre Match - A now rare 9am meet for the UD's to travel up to Bury by car. DB in the cockpit of his mums car on this occasion meaning that the usual luxuries were missed. As usual DB was late by a good 20 minutes so we were eventually on the road by 9.30 and made good progress as far as the end of the M6 toll despite the worlds most pointless roadworks at Luton. Sadly traffic came to a standstill before reaching Stoke so entertainment had to be found through an old NOW CD and playing spot the supporter in other cards - quite a few youngsters going to football with parents playing their hand held computers - geeks! Stew kept his composure by tucking into a few lagers. Once we were moving again hunger was the next issue and a stop at Keele provided us with the last Bargain Bucket effort of the year. DB and Middle this time taking apart a 12 piece bucket plus sides and additional hot wings. Dogvar naturally had his daily burger from the King. Feeling much worse for the food consumed we made the rest of the trip easily and got to the ground at around 2 and were given a nice little space outside the club shop. Despite the bad weather that was now setting in various people needed cash and another pint so a stroll to the local shop wiyth pub next door was in order, a quick drink in there for everyone but Middle - who was upset they wouldn't do him a cup of tea, before getting into the ground at five to three. Attendees -
Very poor attendance for this one, but not unusual for this time of year - just the regulars of Middle, Stew, Doggy and DB made the trip with some very poor or non-existant excuses from elsewhere. Browns - 'I'm going to see Riverdance on Ice with my girlfriends cousin being the worst of the lot! Crowd -
Poor for what you think of as a reasonably big club - under 1900 overall. But a pretty good effort from the travelling Daggers considering recent results as 93 made the trip. What home support there was dwindled dramatically as the game progressed and they were hardly supportive of their teams efforts! Match - The Daggers win 2-0 away and the biggest shock was that we looked good for it too. Anyone who was at Barnet would not have recognised this as the same team. Great closing down when not in possesion and a lot more creative and assertive with the ball. Plenty of players could be singled out for praise but none for undue criticism, a thoroughly enjoyable match made the long journey much more enjoyable. Post Match -
Having negotiated a way past the supporters club coach we made quick progress back down the motorways. This was only marred by having to listen to Jimmy Arnfield talking absolute rubbish over the top of the Everton v Arsenal game. Once back in Upminster we stopped for a couple of drinks in the Yeoman and rounded off a great day by watching Mardle knock Stoke pikey Taylor out of the arrows! The night was then rounded off in style with a ruby in the Alishan before heading home. | Dagenham vs Bury: Match Report | Match day Report | Player Ratings | Match Photos Site: |
