The Upminster Daggers look back at 2006 and list their 10 favourite games.
Nationwide Conference - Scarborough, Away, 28th January, Won, 1-0

A long journey North with Chappie cabs, and a chance to meet up with our friend in the North, Humphrey. As always, we were welcomed at the local Working Mans Club who continued to sell drinks at bargain prices. The game was not a classic, but it was a gutsy performance from the boys, topped off with a well worked winner from Scott Griffthis. The journey home was memorable for bumping into a Boston fan on his way home, and also the referee from the Bradford v Tranmere game!!!

Nationwide Conference - Stevenage Borough, Home, 18th February, Drew, 2-2
As games with Stevenage often are, this was a really hard fought contest. Two down inside six minutes to goals from Nurse and Maamria we were level by the twenty minute mark thanks to set piece goals from Tim Cole and Sam Saunders, even though the second was given as an own goal!!! Either team could have won it after that, but a draw was about the right result.

Nationwide Conference - Chav Athletic, Away, 21st February, Won, 4-0
A visit to Grays is never very nice, but the result of this game made it more bearable than normal!!!! A short train journey from the pub was made before arriving at their joke excuse for a Conference stadium. Organisation at the ground was zero, and despite around 450 travelling fans being present we were given an area with about 350 seats (not as chaotic as the Trophy game would be on the following Saturday!!!). The Daggers totally outplayed the Thurrock chavs. Paul Bruce, Big Cliff and Glen Southam put us 3-0 up before the break, before Big Cliff added a 4th in the second half in the pouring rain!!!!

Nationwide Conference - Morecambe, Home, 18th March, Won, 3-1
With the Upminster Daggers in the comfort of the sponsors area, the boys put in one of their most impressive performances of the season against high flying Morecambe. Goals from CMS, Southam and Akurang were to much for Morecambe despite a reply from Gary Thompson. As always the Morecambe management were superb sports, especially Sammy McAlroy and the physion (aka Mike Bassett!!!).

Nationwide Conference - Forest Green Rovers, Away, 25th March, Won, 3-0
Always a good day out when travelling to Stroud, and even better when the train tickets were a tenner!!!! The Daggers put in a strong performance and goals from legend Tim Cole and a first for the club from the ever improving Danny Foster put us 2 ahead, before a late goal from Chris Moore gave us a 3-0 victory.

Match Report (daggers.co.uk)

Nationwide Conference - Altrincham, Away, 3rd September, Won, 5-0
A rare Sunday fixture and another long drive North. In the wet conditions Daggers flew out of the traps and Rainford and Southam put the Daggers two up. After the break further goals from Saunders, Benson and CMS (a top goal), gave the Daggers a thumping 5-0 win. A long journey back due to issues on the M1 meant a late arrival home, but a very worthwhile day out.

Nationwide Conference - Stafford Rangers, Away, 3rd October, Won, 2-1
A Tuesday night trip to Stafford for the televised clash did not look like an easy game on paper, and so it proved. However, a really hard working performance gave us the points. Glen Southam opened the scoring with a penalty before Grayson levelled. After the break Big Cliff broke free down the right and crossed for Paul Benson to net the winner, much to the delight of the Upminster Daggers behind the goal who put in an appearance for the watcing millions!?!?!?! News of a late goal for Exeter at Grays made our journey hom even more pleasant!!!!

Nationwide Conference - Stevenage Borough, Away, 14th October, Won, 2-1
Always nice to beat Borough and this was no exception. A large travelling following meant that the game was played in an excellent atmosphere. Daggers took the lead through Sam Sloma but Morrison levelled for Borough. However, another goal from Sloma put us back in front and the rest of the game was spend defending like their lives depended on it. An excellent result and performance.

Nationwide Conference - Rushden and Diamonds, Away, 4th November, Won, 3-2
Another excellent away performance and a great day out. We travelled up by mini-bus to the excellent stadium. Despite going behind after a minute, and despite being pegged back by a joke penalty award, first half goals from Benno and CMS (x2) sent us in 3-2 up. The second half was not as open but we once again deserved the 3 points. The journey home was lively as was the evening celebrating in the pub!!!

Nationwide Conference - York, Away, 25th November, Won, 3-2
One of the best, funniest, tiring and most expensive days out we have ever had. The issues of the train problems which affected us, and the team, have been well documented on here and elsewhere. Me losing the tickets for the journey home has to be one of the most unpopular and expensive things I have ever done!!! The team were excellent though, and in the soaking conditions goals from Southam and two from CMS gave us a thrilling 3-2 victory, and all the problems we had on the day were forgotten.
