Football LeagueSo after all the waiting and all the expectation, they are here!!!!!  Fixtures for the 2007/08 season are out and the Daggers first ever fixtures in the Football League are available for all to see. The event itself was slightly more exciting than the Carling Cup draw the day before!!! Whereas that was one game and then that was it, this is a whole list of what we have to look forward to in the next 10 months.

Seeing a list of fixtures for our club against the likes of Bradford, Brentford, Grimsby and Rotherham was quite weird.  For fans of "bigger" clubs this may seem quite sad, but for us it is a massive change, and comes just 8 years after our league fixture list at this time included the likes of Chesham and Slough!!!!

First up is a visit to the North West (there will be many), to face Stockport County.  Some people were disspaointed with this, but personally I thought it was a decent game to get.  OK, it could have been bigger like Brentford or Bradford, but at least it wasn't another ex non league team who we have played in the last few years.  Stockport's Edgeley Park is also a decent ground by Leage Two standards.  It houses just over 11,000 fans and Stockport's average gates in the last few seasons have been around 5,000.

The Daggers first ever home league game will be against Wycome Wanderers, old friends from their days in the Conference.  Again, this is a decent game for the first ever Football League game at Victoria Road.  Wycombe will be among the pre-season favourites for promotion, and will also bring a sizeable travelling contingent.

After that a few other games catch the eye.  Notts County away on September 15th should be a popular game with Daggers fans, as should our first ever midweek Football League game, a derby, away at Brentford.  Bradford City, in the Premiership 6 years ago come to Essex on November 17th while the Daggers visit Valley Parade, 25,000 all seater capacity, on March 1st.  The Festive period also looks interesting, with a visit to Barnet on Boxing Day, and Brentford coming to us on New Years Day.  However, a long trip to Bury is sandwiched in on the Saturday in between.

So thats how it looks.  Some glamorous looking trips and games to keep us busy, and some not to glamorous and good looking trips!!! Certainly better than a trip to Canvey or Grays though!?!?!?!  Anyone know who Boston have on first day!?!
